July 19 (UPI) -- Sunday's World Cup halftime show at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey included energetic performances by Madonna, The Muppets, Shakira, BTS and Justin Bieber.

Jennifer Hudson kicked off the high-profile soccer game with a stunning rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Watching the nail-biter of an event, which went into overtime so Spain could beat Argentina 1-0, were U.S. President Donald Trump, actors Tom Cruise, Timothee Chalamet, Matt Damon, Jason Sudeikis and Will Ferrell, reality TV star Kylie Jenner.

"More than 30 days ago, 48 nations began a journey," Cruise said in a speech from the field at the top of the game.
