Spain defeated Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday.

Spain won the match by a score of 1-0 after the game went into extra time. Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match.

This marks only the second time Spain has won the soccer football competition. It also took the crown in 2010, defeating the Netherlands by a score of 1-0.

The game was also notable as it marked Argentina superstar Lionel Messi’s third time starting in a World Cup final. He’s the only man to have achieved that feat.

The United States, which hosted many of this year’s games, made it to Round 16 before being eliminated by Belgium with a 4-1 loss.
