The U.S. military said it carried out retaliatory strikes Sunday against Iranian forces after attacks in Jordan killed two American service members and left another missing.
The escalation is also fueling criticism from former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) blasting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in Greene’s criticism of Hegseth’s ‘sacrifice’ remark after he posted about the fallen troops.
U.S. Central Command said in a post on X that it had completed an eighth consecutive night of operations, saying the latest wave hit Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense sites, maritime assets, and locations used to store missiles and drones.
The command also said U.S. forces struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps units it linked to the Jordan attack on July 17.
The latest escalation also renewed concerns about whether the conflict could disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and push energy prices higher.
