No permission granted for CJP march to Parliament on July 20, says Delhi Police

The Delhi Police on Sunday said that no permission has been sought or granted for the march of political campaign Cockroach Janta Party to Parliament slated for July 20.The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, said that orders prohibiting public gatherings under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita are in force in the New Delhi district.“Accordingly, protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons are strictly prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar, with prior permission,” the police said.🚨Prohabitory orders u/s 163 BNSS are in force in New Delhi District except designated protest site at Jantar Mantar Road. The police warned that anyone violating prohibitory orders would be liable for prosecution under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other laws.The march to Parliament slated for Monday is part of a protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged mismanagement of competitive examinations.Activist Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike as part of the protest since June 28. On Saturday morning, Wangchuk was forcibly removed from the protest site at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and taken to the Safdarjung Hospital by the police.On Sunday evening, the activist’s wife Gitanjali Angmo told reporters that Wangchuk will end his fast on Monday “if political leaders meet him at hospital and assure him that they will raise the issue of education accountability during Parliament session”, PTI reported.After Wangchuk was forcibly removed from Jantar Mantar, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke began an indefinite hunger strike.Dipke also called for nationwide peaceful protests. “We need to send a message that the people won’t accept this kind of dictatorship,” he said in a video shared by the political campaign.Three members of the All India Students’ Association – Neha Bora, Manish Kumar and Aameen Amitosh – are also continuing their hunger strike.The Monsoon Session of Parliament will begin on Monday.Edited by Neerad Pandharipande.
