With a few months to the 2027 general election, the Akoko-Edo Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Global Anglican Communion, has called on politicians, political parties and their candidates to allow Nigerians to vote based on their convictions and not through inducements.
The Church also raised concerns about the troubling issue of kidnapping, calling for concerted efforts to check it.
These were contained in the Bishop’s Charge during the 2026 2nd Session of the 6th Synod delivered by the Bishop of the Diocese and the President of Synod, Rt. Rev Ebenezer Saiki, held at St Peter’s Church, Ikakumo, Edo North on Sunday.
He commended Governor Monday Okoebholo for the palliative work going on along the Auchi – Igarra- Ibillo Road and urged him to also embark on new developmental projects in the area as being done in other parts of the state.
The Bishop said, “National discourse is increasingly focused on the approaching 2027 presidential election, and this is likely to remain so in the coming months.
