The Aadi Natya Festival, organised by Brahma Gana Sabha, was inaugurated in Chennai on Sunday. Industrialist Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti said the idea behind the festival was to provide opportunities to young dance exponents. “Children feel encouraged when they get to perform their arangetram in a sabha,” he added. Ravichandran S., secretary, Brahma Gana Sabha, said the festival was started nearly two decades ago. “December is considered the peak season for music, dance, and drama. But after that, it becomes dull. A season’s success depends on the flow of NRIs, which is at its peak during December, while the next best period is July-August,” he said.“Over time, there has been a good response to the festival from NRIs as well as residents of the city,” he added.
