Brigadier-General Kevin Moonsamy has served as South Africa’s Military Adviser in India since 2022. His wife Janessa, a warrant officer in the Air Force, accompanied him.

A military career spanning nearly four decades has earned South African Defence Advisor Brigadier General Kevin Moonsamy international recognition, with the Asia Book of Records naming him the first Defence Advisor of Indian origin from South Africa to serve in India.

The accolade, confirmed by the World Records Union on July 1, 2026, recognises Moonsamy’s role in strengthening defence diplomacy between South Africa and India during his posting at the South African High Commission in New Delhi, where he has served since July 2022.

Over the course of his four-year assignment, the 58-year-old officer has been instrumental in advancing bilateral military cooperation and fostering closer strategic relations between the two nations.

Reflecting on his journey, Moonsamy said his humble upbringing inspired him to aim higher.
