Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have taken different paths during their pre-season preparations in Spain, with one Soweto giant returning home and the other continuing to fine-tune ahead of the new Betway Premiership campaign.
For both clubs, the European tours have provided an opportunity to test new ideas, integrate signings and measure themselves against international opposition before the start of competitive action.
Chiefs have completed their camp with mixed results under new head coach Fernando da Cruz, finishing without a victory but gaining valuable experience from a challenging schedule.
Amakhosi began their tour with a 1-1 draw against Scottish giants Rangers before producing another 1-1 stalemate against Saudi Pro League outfit Al Kholood. The Soweto giants then faced their toughest test against La Liga opposition, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Elche in their final fixture.
