British prosecutors are seeking the influencers’ extradition after identifying more alleged victims.
British prosecutors announced dozens of new charges against Andrew and Tristan Tate on Sunday, including rape and human trafficking, and formally requested their extradition a day after U.S. Marshals arrested the brothers in Miami.
The extradition bid sets up a transatlantic test of how far Washington is willing to go in handing over to a European ally two of the online manosphere’s most prominent figures — both vocal supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump with a large following on the American right.
“America does not do Britain’s political dirty work,” Joseph McBride, a lawyer for the brothers, told the Associated Press Saturday evening, dismissing the charges as “filth and slander” designed to counter a defamation action the Tates have filed in the U.S.
Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said on Sunday that it will prosecute Andrew Tate, 39, on new counts of rape along with charges of trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault and offenses relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces new counts of rape, sexual assault and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
