Samoa’s U18 women’s basketball team has finished fifth at the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup Division B after ending its campaign with an 82-73 victory over Thailand.

The win capped off a challenging week of international competition for the young Samoan women, who tested themselves against teams from across the region.

Samoa competed in Group B alongside Kazakhstan, Lebanon, and the Cook Islands before advancing to the quarterfinals, where it faced Indonesia.

The team’s quarterfinal match against Indonesia ended in defeat, but Samoa bounced back in the classification round to secure fifth place with its win over Thailand.

Guard Talaitupu Reid said the final match reflected their effort and determination throughout the tournament.
