Some Benue stakeholders on Saturday revealed that the SGF is allegedly in talks with opposition figures to hand Benue State over to Aondoakaa who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2027 general elections.

A political storm has erupted within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State following allegations that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, is actively working to install a former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Chief Mike Aondoakaa, SAN, as the next governor of the state.

Some Benue stakeholders on Saturday revealed that the SGF is allegedly in talks with opposition figures to hand Benue State over to Aondoakaa who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking, a Benue elder statesman, who is also national leader of the International Centre for Transparency Nigeria (ICTN), Prof Joseph Vershima, accused Senator Akume of alliance with the PDP camp adding that the "internal sabotage is heavily calculated to destroy the re-election chances of both Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, and President Bola Tinubu within the North Central zone."
