Controversy has surrounded the location of a Federal Government-funded garri processing plant in Abia State.
The project, reportedly worth N348,129,596.34, was said to have been approved for execution in Umuhu Ezechi community in Bende Local Government Area of the state.
But residents of the community in Bende Federal Constituency are demanding the exact location of the project, doubting that such a facility exists in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the community, one of the village leaders, Emenike Stanley, said members had been unable to identify the location of the facility “despite claims by supporters of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, that the project has been completed and is awaiting commissioning.”
