The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has received ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ award under the State government’s flagship ‘Swarna Andhra – Swachh Andhra’ programme.GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg received the award from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the 18th ‘Swarna Andhra - Swachh Andhra’ programme held on Saturday in Gudivada of Krishna District. GVMC received the award in recognition of its outstanding performance in the category of cities with a population between 3 lakh and 10 lakh.Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said that in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Swachh Andhra Corporation, GVMC effectively implemented the ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ campaign across the city during the month of June. By organising large-scale cleanliness drives every week with a specific theme, encouraging active public participation, and ensuring effective coordination among all departments, GVMC earned this prestigious recognition.“This achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of the citizens of Visakhapatnam, public representatives, officials of the Swachh Andhra Corporation, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), voluntary organisations, sanitation workers, and the officers and employees of GVMC,” he said.
