Jagan Mohan Reddy said on X that the horrific incident in Guntur city, where a woman was allegedly stripped and assaulted by a TDP leader, was not just a stain on humanity but also a shocking reflection of the complete collapse of law and order in the State, and that the NDA government should hang its head in shame over it.He observed though the incident happened on July 15, it came to light only after videos of the assault surfaced on social media, triggering widespread public outrage and prompting the government to project itself as taking swift action.The crime could have been prevented had the police acted immediately when the victim first approached them and lodged a complaint, he said.Under the “red book governance,” the government encouraged attacks on opposition leaders, party workers, and social media activists, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged, insisting that the law was being selectively used to protect ruling party leaders who were harassing opposition members and victims through intimidation and questionable criminal cases resulting in the State being pushed towards a dangerous breakdown of the rule of law.
