Among the enhanced passenger facilities at the Bantwal railway station, redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), are a spacious circulating area, separate pick-up and drop-off points, and an expansive covered parking facility.Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the station, along with 74 other stations, including four under the South Western Railway (SWR), on Friday.According to a release, Bantwal is one of the 15 stations under the Mysuru Division of SWR sanctioned ₹339.41 crore for redevelopment.The circulating area has been expanded from 384 sq. m. to 9,354 sq. m., and a dedicated 3,837 sq. m. parking area has been created for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Platform infrastructure has also been significantly improved. The shelter on Platform No. 1 has been expanded from 405 sq. m. to 3,874 sq. m., while Platform No. 2 has been provided with 5,128 sq. m. of new covered shelter.The station has been transformed into a modern, safe, accessible and passenger-friendly facility, with upgraded waiting halls, a modern booking office, improved interiors, an enhanced facade, landscaped surroundings, energy-efficient lighting, and aesthetically designed entrance and exit arches.Passenger amenities now include larger waiting halls, an infant nursing cubicle, a cafeteria with kitchen, a lift on the existing foot overbridge, an autorickshaw stand, Wi-Fi connectivity, coach guidance display boards, and other modern facilities.The station is fully equipped with Divyangjan-friendly amenities, including accessible booking counters, toilets, tactile paths, water booths, reserved parking, and modern passenger information systems, the release said.
