The Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) conducted a special enforcement drive against food safety violations at two fast food centres in Chandrayangutta area of Hyderabad on Friday (July 17). During the drive, officials seized around 20 litres of reused cooking oil, approximately 40 kg of fried chicken, around 40 kg of raw coloured chicken, three boxes and six packets of artificial or synthetic food colours.The inspections were conducted at Al-Madina Chinese Fast Food Center and Omer Chinese Fast Food Center. Both establishments were found preparing food under highly unhygienic conditions. The officials also detected the use of reused cooking oil and artificial food colours, while the outlets had failed to maintain pest control records and water analysis certificates. The inspection team also noted non-compliance with prescribed food hygiene standards and unsafe food handling practices that posed a risk to public health.As part of the drive, two cases were registered and three persons were apprehended. The accused, along with the seized material, were produced before the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chandrayangutta Police Station for further legal action. Published - July 18, 2026 07:52 pm IST
