The Jigawa State Government has adopted a digital revenue collection platform to automate collections across the informal sector as part of efforts to improve transparency, enhance accountability and curb revenue leakages.
The payment platform, developed by eTranzact International Plc, was unveiled during a stakeholders’ engagement and capacity-building programme organised in collaboration with the Jigawa Internal Revenue Service in Dutse on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the company on Saturday.
The platform is designed to digitise revenue collection across livestock markets, grain markets, haulage operations and other informal sector activities by replacing manual processes with an automated electronic payment system.
According to the statement, more than 90 revenue collectors, market leaders and other key stakeholders participated in training on the operation of the platform.
