On Friday, July 17, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs summoned the chargé d'affaires of the Russian Federation embassy over Russia's malicious cyber activity on French territory.

This was stated in a press release by the spokesperson for the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ukrinform reports.

"The aim of the summoning was to condemn in the strongest terms the malicious cyber activities conducted by Russia in France, particularly those carried out by the FSB's Centre 16," the French foreign ministry said.

As a reminder, FSB Centre 16 is a unit of the Russian special service that the French authorities link to cyber-espionage operations by the Turla group, including against state institutions and strategic facilities in France.

The ministry stressed that this activity is directed not only against France, but also against many of its European partners.
