Roughly two months after testing them in select markets, Costco officially introduced a new chicken tenders menu option to its food courts nationwide.At $6.99 per basket, the meal comes with five strips and a dipping sauce that many influencers have compared to Chick-fil-A’s honey mustard.Here’s what you should know about Costco’s new chicken tenders meal, and what the internet is saying about it.Another generous portionCostco officially rolled out a chicken tender meal nationwide after testing it in select markets since May.According to videos circulating online, the meal comes in at a whopping 1,640 calories and features five tenders with a large side of dipping sauce for $6.99.Costco is well known for its generous pizza and hot dog meals, and the tenders appear to live up to that reputation. In a video posted to Instagram, influencer account Costcoguide said they’re “literally” the size of her head.A large portion of dipping sauce, which social media users are comparing to Chick-fil-A’s, is served alongside the tenders.Costcoguide said it reminds her of the Chick-fil-A honey barbecue sauce. The Sushi Guy, aka Photogami, envisioned his own recipe – three parts Chick-fil-A honey mustard, with one part of Chick-fil-A’s eponymous sauce.From the ‘bomb.com’ to a ‘rare Costco L’On both Costcoguide’s and Photogami’s social media posts, reactions are fairly split, with some people saying they can’t wait to try the tenders and others arguing they don’t live up to the hype.“Ummmm I want some!!!” wrote one user. “Oh nooo! Something I might actually like,” wrote another.One person called the tenders the “bomb.com,” while another speculated that Costco is targeting the “protein conscious gym bros,” before conceding they “look yummy.”Still, not everyone was impressed.“These are a miss unfortunately. Too dry, salty…Rare Costco L,” said one person. “Got some today –– first tender was really tasty but the rest were stringy and one was super dense and off putting,” said another, adding that it “Can’t compare to the (hot) dawg.”Someone else thought their experience might be a one-off until they started reading others' comments. “I thought the ones at my Costco were salty and dry,” they said, “but from the comments it looks like it’s the same across.”Drew Pittock covers national trending news for USA TODAY.
