File: American boxer, Jake Paul and former two-time unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua

American boxer, Jake Paul, has vowed to avoid fighting heavyweights again after his brutal defeat to former two-time unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, left him with a broken jaw that required multiple surgeries.

Paul, who fights naturally in the cruiserweight division, was knocked out in the sixth round by Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami on December 19, in a bout that saw him dropped four times before referee, Christopher Young, halted proceedings 1:31 into the round.

Joshua, who weighed nearly 27lb heavier and stood five inches taller than his opponent, had entered the fight as an overwhelming favourite.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Paul said the experience had convinced him that stepping into the ring with an elite heavyweight was not a challenge he intends to repeat.
