A non-governmental organisation, NaijAid UK, has launched its annual 250,000 Steps Challenge, seeking to raise £30,000 to support life-saving healthcare initiatives in Nigeria.
The UK-based charity disclosed this in a statement made available on Friday, saying participants across the United Kingdom are expected to walk 250,000 steps throughout July to raise funds for healthcare projects.
According to the organisation, proceeds from the campaign will support first aid training, healthcare professional development and the donation of essential medical equipment to healthcare facilities across Nigeria.
NaijAid UK said the initiative builds on the success of its 2025 campaign, which it said funded first aid training for communities, students and healthcare professionals, supported Project Alert’s First Aid Training Competition and facilitated donations of hospital beds, wheelchairs and other medical supplies to institutions, including the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and Gbagada General Hospital.
The organisation said funds raised this year would be used to train more university students and first responders in physical and mental health first aid, expand advanced life support training for healthcare professionals, transport donated medical equipment from the UK to Nigeria and deliver an expanded four-day annual training programme.
