ATLANTA — Until recently, the Atlanta Braves’ farm system was running thin. Long regarded as the gold standard for player development, the organization had seen its once-deep pipeline burst in recent years.But a new wave of homegrown talent — headlined by top prospects Eric Hartman, Cam Caminiti and Tate Southisene — has restored optimism throughout the system. Drake Baldwin, a product of the Braves’ 2022 draft class, has already emerged as one of the organization’s biggest player development success stories. In two MLB seasons, he’s won the National League Rookie of the Year and been a starter for the NL in the All-Star Game.This past weekend furthered that positive momentum, as the Braves compiled what many league evaluators consider one of the most impressive draft classes, leaving the future looking even brighter. The Braves used some creativity to stitch together their impressive draft class.Understanding the Braves’ draft processNow that the Braves have signed their first 12 draft picks, it’s easier to see the vision behind this year’s class. Atlanta entered the 2026 draft with a bonus pool of $15,870,800. That bonus pool is the amount of money they were allocated to sign picks from the first 10 rounds, plus any post-10th-round selections who received bonuses exceeding $150,000.The Braves had 11 picks in the first 10 rounds and used those selections on six players from college and five from high school. They also took a high school infielder with their 11th round pick. As of Friday, they had signed all 12 of those players (all bonus information from MLB.com).
