Life sentences for hitmen in brutal murder of Centlec CEO Andries Mgoqi.
The Bloemfontein High Court in the Free State sentenced two convicted contract killers to life imprisonment for the murder of former Centlec chief executive officer Andries Mgoqi.
Nkwebe Seatile, 32, and Tlotlisang Monyane, 34, were convicted for the fatal shooting of the 52-year-old former municipal electricity utility boss, as well as related charges stemming from a violent crime spree in Bloemfontein during early 2024.
According to police, the first attack took place on 28 January 2024 at a local nightclub in Bloemfontein. The pair allegedly lured a 53-year-old man outside the venue before a struggle broke out near the exit. During the altercation, one of the suspects produced a firearm and fired several shots, striking the victim in the face.
The victim survived the attack, and an attempted murder case was opened at Bainsvlei Police Station before being transferred to the Provincial Organised Crime Unit for investigation by Detective Sergeant Lethola Taiwe.
