A 40-year-old male elephant was found dead near Parapalaru dam in Dindigul Forest division on Friday. According to information, when a forest staffer was on surveillance duty, he spotted a pachyderm dead at around 9 a.m. Immediately, he alerted superiors and a team comprising Dindigul District Forest Officer and team arrived.Preliminary inquiries revealed that the elephant may have come in contact with the high tension wires in the forest area and instantly died.
