July 17 (UPI) -- Two people are dead in flooding in Texas' hill country after heavy rains hit the area.
In Kerrville, Ingram and Hunt, a flash flood emergency was in place early Thursday. Those are the areas hit the hardest by floods in July 2025 that killed at least 130 people, including 25 girls at a Christian camp.
The two people who died were from Uvalde and Center Point, Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott said at a Thursday press conference. One person was 74 and the other was 65. He said more than 200 people have been rescued, and there were 2,350 emergency responders 200 high-profile vehicles, 85 boats and 21 aircraft deployed to the flooded area.
Abbott said disaster declarations were issued in 59 counties, and 59 counties were under flood watches.
