Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Helen Kovalska and Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) Viktor Yelenskyi met with a delegation of the World Council of Churches (WCC) led by its General Secretary, Rev. Prof. Jerry Pillay, who is visiting Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience stated this on Facebook.

"The Ukrainian side expressed strong interest in the current situation within the World Council of Churches, its members' attitudes toward Russian aggression, the procedure for admitting new members, and new initiatives in the social, humanitarian, and peacebuilding spheres. Following discussions on these and many other issues, the parties agreed to pursue close and practical cooperation, which those present believe will greatly assist Ukrainian churches in fulfilling their mission," the statement said.

Kovalska informed the WCC delegation that there are no signs indicating Russia is prepared for peace and stressed that Ukraine is not considering territorial concessions in any format. She also described the consequences of Russia's massive aerial attacks and the challenges Ukraine faces ahead of winter.
