The US is establishing a state-of-the-art defence technology centre in Africa owing to the region’s readiness

The United States’ military arm in Africa, US Africa Command (Africom), recently inked an agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco on bolstering cooperation between the two parties.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which is between Africom and Morocco's Royal Armed Forces, is designed to establish a collaborative training mission dubbed the Africa Multi-Domain Training and Experimentation Centre (AMTEC).

The MoU was signed at Africom headquarters in Kelly Barrack, Stuttgart, Germany, on the 13th of July.

Upon completion, AMTEC will comprise an Innovation and Experimentation Center, a Drone Academy, and a Multi-Domain Training Area (MDTA), situated on the periphery of the Sahara Desert in Tan-Tan, southwestern Morocco.

With an emphasis on airspace deconfliction, multidomain integration, attack capabilities and intelligence, and surveillance and reconnaissance synchronization, this will provide students with the knowledge and ability to integrate sUAS into the larger scheme of maneuver.
