Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced that an attack by the Islamic Republic targeted one of the country’s power generation plants and desalination facilities, triggering a fire.
According to the ministry, the strike damaged sections of the facility and several power generation units. Kuwaiti officials stated that the fire had been contained and that technical teams were repairing the damaged equipment to restore it to the grid. Efforts to monitor the stability of the national power network are ongoing.
The Associated Press, quoting Kuwaiti officials, also reported that the Islamic Republic’s missile and drone strikes caused significant damage to the plant’s power generation units, with assessments of the total impact still underway. According to the report, desalination complexes supply approximately 90% of Kuwait’s drinking water.
Simultaneously, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement announcing the execution of the “15th wave of Operation Nasr 2.” The IRGC claimed that, during this phase, in addition to targeting launch pads and HIMARS missile systems in Kuwait, its missile and drone strikes also hit several US troop deployment sites and what it termed “counter-revolutionary mercenaries of America and Israel.”
