International team hoping to find out more about elusive substance.
According to current scientific consensus, up to 85 percent of the mass of the universe is made from dark matter, an invisible, hypothetical substance only observable through its gravitational influence.
For years, scientists have been trying to learn more about this mysterious form of matter, and their research so far assumes it is made up of an as yet unidentified particle.
A number of experiments are being carried out in the hope of finding or at least shedding more light on this elusive particle.
One of these is the Dark matter and Interstellar Meteoroid Study (DIMS) which is looking for both macroscopic dark matter candidates and small bodies up to one metre that came from other star systems. The experiment uses high-sensitivity video cameras deployed in Japan and Utah, US that continuously monitor the night sky.
