Uganda's internationally acclaimed dance troupe, the Ghetto Kids, are set to achieve another major milestone after securing a performance slot alongside Colombian music superstar Shakira during the closing ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in New York.

The announcement, shared on social media, revealed that the talented youngsters had already arrived in the United States ahead of the highly anticipated global sporting event. Shakira confirmed the collaboration, raising excitement among fans across Africa who have followed the group's remarkable journey from Kampala's streets to the world's biggest stages.

“The @ghettokids_tfug from Uganda have changed our lives. Spending time with them has been magical and has taught us so much! I’m so happy to finally have them here in NY to dance with me at the World Cup Final”, Shakira Wrote.

According to the troupe's manager, Dauda Kavuma, the opportunity came after they submitted a choreography video to Shakira's management team. Their creativity and energetic dance routines reportedly impressed the singer's team, leading to an invitation that Kavuma described as "a dream come true" not only for Uganda but for the entire African continent.
