Domestic Iranian media outlets report that five bridges in Khamir County, located in Hormozgan Province, were targeted during the recent wave of US military airstrikes.

Fars News Agency, quoting the Hormozgan Governor’s Office, reported that the infrastructure struck included the Geriveh Bridge on the Bandar Abbas–Khamir–Lar transit route, a bridge past Latidan village on the return lane of the same route, two bridges along the Kahurestan-to-Lar highway, an unfinished bridge on the Bandar Khamir–Keshar–Bandar Abbas axis, and the Maru village bridge in Khamir County.

Simultaneously, a senior US official told The Wall Street Journal that the US military targeted several bridges in Iran on Thursday, July 16, 2026, to disrupt supply routes used to transport military equipment to a key port city and naval base near the Strait of Hormuz. According to the official, the Islamic Republic has used this base to launch attacks on commercial shipping and project military power.

According to the report, the airstrikes on bridges surrounding Bandar Abbas commenced on Thursday evening and continued into the early hours of Friday. The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) also confirmed that major highways connecting Bandar Abbas to neighbouring provinces had been completely closed.
