Iranian media, quoting the Islamic Republic Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported a new wave of missile and drone attacks targeting US military bases across several countries in the region.

According to the statements released, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic claimed to have targeted US installations in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, as well as in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman’s Musandam Governorate.

The Iranian Army announced that a drone strike on Bahrain’s Sakhir Air Base targeted hangars housing US helicopters and P-8 maritime patrol aircraft. Simultaneously, Iranian state media, citing both the Army and the IRGC, claimed that strikes on US bases in Kuwait damaged equipment belonging to the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade and HIMARS rocket launcher systems. The Kuwaiti military confirmed that it was actively intercepting Iranian drone and missile attacks.

In a separate statement, the IRGC announced that, in the early hours of Friday, July 17, it struck a “maritime control radar” on Salama Island and a “US military air control radar” in the Ghanam area of Oman’s Musandam Governorate. The IRGC characterised these actions as part of its “retaliatory operations” and warned that the campaign would continue.
