SAPS Warrant Officer Mbongeleni Mpangase testified at the Madlanga Commission on Friday on the Port Shepstone drug bust in 2021.
The Madlanga Commission continues unpacking the high-profile 2021 Port Shepstone cocaine bust, with SAPS Warrant Officer Mbongeleni Mpangase expected to give crucial testimony.
Police seized 541kg of cocaine during the operation, but the case took a dramatic turn after the drugs were later stolen from a Hawks safe.
Earlier evidence revealed that KwaZulu-Natal Hawks boss, Major-General Lesetja Senona, kept both the primary and spare keys to the safe.
The commission also heard that Colonel Gavin Jacob interrupted his leave after learning of the R200 million drug bust, joined the operation, and later resumed his leave.
