The document, titled "Affidavit of Withdrawal of Case," was deposed to by Tanko Habila Wisdom, a resident of Sabon Garni Nok in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The father of the late Mary Habila, Mr. Tanko Habila Wisdom, has formally withdrawn from the investigation into the death of his daughter, declaring that neither he nor his family would permit an autopsy to be conducted on her body despite initially welcoming efforts to determine the cause of her death.
Mary Habila, who reportedly died on June 27, 2026, at the residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, had reportedly been serving as a staff member of the David Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences before she was seconded to the office of the minister.
According to an affidavit dated July 13, 2026, and sworn before the High Court of Justice of Ebonyi State, Mr. Habila stated that while he appreciated efforts aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding his daughter's death, his family had decided against any post-mortem examination.
