FENRAD said numerous unanswered questions had emerged following the incident, including issues raised in the widely circulated article, "Death in Uburu: The Questions David Umahi Must Answer."
The Foundation for Environmental Rights, Advocacy and Development (FENRAD Nigeria) has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately suspend the Minister of Works, David Umahi, pending the outcome of an independent investigation into the controversial death of 26-year-old woman, Mary Habila at the minister's residence in Uburu, Ebonyi State.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its Executive Director, Nelson Nnanna Nwafor, the group said the circumstances surrounding Habila's death had raised serious public concerns that could only be addressed through a transparent, independent and evidence-based investigation.
FENRAD said numerous unanswered questions had emerged following the incident, including issues raised in the widely circulated article, "Death in Uburu: The Questions David Umahi Must Answer."
According to the group, the concerns include the circumstances surrounding Habila's presence at Umahi's residence, the reported secondment of physiotherapists from the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences to the Federal Ministry of Works, the nature of their assignments, and the need for a comprehensive forensic investigation, including an independent autopsy.
