Words haven't been necessary this week inside the All Blacks camp to describe what's at stake at Eden Park on Saturday night. An incomparable run of 52 tests unbeaten across 32 years - the streak has reached mythical levels and goes on the line against the Irish.Captain Ardie Savea said the team was well aware of what awaited them."We haven't really had to talk about it because we all know what's at stake. We all know, so we don't fear it. But it's a great challenge for us to come here and play a quality Irish side."You've seen they've been around the number one team in the world for a long time and it's the quality of players and the coaching staff that they have."Many believed the fortress would fall in 2025 with the world champion Springboks, but the All Blacks once again repelled the challenge in emphatic fashion.Savea himself played a crucial role in that test, his turnover in the dying stages sealing the win as he screamed "This is our house!""It's our home ground, our fans are here, our country's here," he said. The All Blacks have adopted a far more expansive attacking style in 2026 under Dave Rennie, although having added bulk to the pack, it would suggest things may get tighter against the Irish."It's when we nail our game plan and nail how we want to play, we get the results. Rugby's a simple game. You win the physical battle, you win the territory position, you go a long way to putting yourself in a good stead to win."His first defence of the streak as fulltime skipper, Savea said there had been an edge in camp this week."As an All Black you feel pressure every week and that's just the case. But what an honour, what a privilege to experience that pressure. For me, and where a lot of us have grown up, that's not even pressure."Pressure is life. Pressure is dealing with things outside of this game. We get to do what we love. We happen to just be able to play at Eden Park on Saturday, which is a huge blessing."Tomorrow also marks the first meeting between the two sides since Ireland's historic series victory in 2022.However, Savea said he was not using revenge as motivation."Some use it, some don't. It hasn't been talked about but for some it might be. For me personally, I just want to go out there and represent the jersey well."Having played the role of occasional stand-in captain under Scott Robertson, Savea said he was starting to feel a real ownership of the team."I think it's not just myself. I think it's the players and our leaders. Rennie has given us space to lead and part of that is taking ownership. The leaders have done a great job so far in terms of getting this group connected and understanding how we want to play."
