A schoolteacher riding pillion on a bike taxi was killed after the two-wheeler collided with a truck on Kanjhawala Road in Rohini on Thursday, the police said.Priyanka, 46, a resident of Rama Vihar who taught at the MCD school in K-Block, Mangolpuri, was on her way to school when the accident took place. According to the police officers, they received a PCR call about the accident on Thursday morning. On reaching the spot, they found a truck loaded with sand stationed on the road and the woman dead under its left rear wheel. The truck driver had fled, the police said. “The body of the deceased was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where it was preserved in the mortuary after medico-legal formalities,” a senior police officer said. Police have registered an FIR under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are investigating the accident. “We have contacted the offending truck’s owner and are working to trace and arrest the absconding driver,” the officer said.
