The member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has welcomed the Federal Government’s approval of the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Akokwa–Arondizuogu–Okigwe road project, describing it as the outcome of years of advocacy.
In a statement on Thursday, the lawmaker commended President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas for their roles in securing approval for the project.
The statement noted that Tinubu recently approved the design and procurement of the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road as part of two major dual carriageway projects aimed at improving connectivity and economic activities in the South-East.
Reacting to the development, Ugochinyere said the approval marked a major breakthrough for residents of Ideato, Okigwe and neighbouring communities who had endured years of hardship caused by the deteriorating condition of the road.
“This approval is a clear expression of what we can achieve when we work together across party lines for the good of our people. Years of advocacy have paid off.
