“Family Guy” star Seth Green is a big “Dungeon Crawler Carl” fan who wants it to be known he’d love to join the cast of the live-action TV series — but doesn’t want to use his personal connections to land the part.
The show, which was ordered to series at Peacock last month, is being produced by “Dungeon Crawler Carl” author Matt Dinniman and Green’s longtime friend and collaborator, Seth MacFarlane.
Not too long after the announcement was made, Green posted art showcasing several different forms of the character Mordecai, a mentor to the titular Carl and his cat companion, Princess Donut, on Instagram and captioned it: “Who’s your favorite ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ character? I’m a Mordecai guy myself.” Fans were quick to notice he’d tagged Dinniman, MacFarlane and MacFarlane’s production company, Fuzzy Door, in the post.
So was this his initial pitch to be considered for the part? Kind of!
“My wife Clare [Grant] was reading [the latest book, ‘A Parade of Horribles’] in chapters before it even hit Patreon,” Green told Variety during a recent interview about joining the Global Gaming League as an advisory board member. “So I’ve been aware of this thing for a very long time, and you probably know that Fuzzy Door, Seth McFarlane’s company, who’s a friend of mine, is producing the project. So I guess I’m just making it known that I think I would make a really good Mordecai. I don’t know what their plan is. Nobody’s talked about it. I love Matt Dinniman, and we’ve definitely hung out, but I don’t know if he’ll have much say in it.”
