RIYADH: Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha held several meetings in South Korea with government ministers and heads of investment and technology firms.

The meetings sought to deepen the Saudi-Korean partnership across artificial intelligence, the digital economy, tech investment and digital government services. He was joined by Haytham Al-Ohali, governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission.

In talks with Bae Kyung-hoon, South Korea’s deputy prime minister and minister of science and ICT, Al-Swaha discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in AI, semiconductors and digital infrastructure — a push aimed at building a competitive digital economy and reinforcing the Kingdom’s ambitions to become a global hub for artificial intelligence.

The minister also sat down with Yun Ho-jung, South Korea’s minister of interior. They explored joint work on unified government platforms, digital identity and harnessing AI to upgrade public services, along with closer ties between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and the Korean ministry.

Al-Swaha also met Albert Lee, founder and CEO of APL Ventures, to examine investment and partnership opportunities with Saudi startups, support for their growth and international expansion, and openings in the Saudi market — moves intended to link the Kingdom’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem more closely with global markets.
