Four Japanese companies are to join a Nvidia Corp-led alliance of businesses and research institutions to accelerate the adoption of physical AI
Fujitsu Ltd, FANUC Corp and two of Japan’s biggest robotics companies are to work together in robot development, a move aimed at staying ahead of surging competition from China.The two are to team up with factory automation leaders Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd and Yaskawa Electric Corp to explore new opportunities in robotics by using technology from US chipmaker Nvidia Corp, the companies said in a statement yesterday.The collaboration would span areas such as factories, retail, logistics and healthcare.

“The premise for deploying robots is to not replace humans, but to work with them,” Fujitsu chief executive officer Takahito Tokita said at a news conference announcing the partnership in Tokyo.The four Japanese companies would also join the Nvidia-led Cosmos Coalition, an alliance of businesses and research institutions working to accelerate the adoption of Nvidia platforms for what the industry calls physical artificial intelligence (AI).
