Devotees enthusiastically pull the chariot carrying the deities of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at the ‘Rath Yatra’ organised by National Sanskrit University (NSU) in Tirupati on Thursday.

To mark the ‘Jagannath Rath Yatra’ at Puri, National Sanskrit University (NSU) took out a chariot procession in Tirupati on Thursday.As the chariot passed through the arterial roads of the temple city of Tirupati, devotees raised ‘Jai Jagannath’ slogans. Passers-by briefly stopped to offer prayers. The event was conducted by the university’s Utkal Peetham (Odisha Chair), on the lines of the annual Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra.After the prerequisite prayers, the ‘Sobha Yatra’ commenced from the Jagannath temple located inside the varsity campus and went around the campus. Academic Dean Prof. Rajanikant Shukla, Registrar Kadiyam Venkatanarayana Rao, Finance Officer in-charge Prof. Radha Govind Tripathi, Dean (Students welfare) Prof. S. Dakshinamurthy Sharma, Odisha Chair advisor Prof. G. Sankaranarayana, Director Prof. Bharat Bhushan Rath lead from the front.The varsity’s students made all arrangements and participated in the distribution of ‘prasadam’ to devotees throughout the procession.
