Aston Martin entered the 2026 Formula One season with huge expectations after partnering with Honda and placing legendary designer Adrian Newey in charge of their technical direction.
Instead, the Silverstone-based team has endured a frustrating campaign, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll spending much of the season fighting at the back of the grid rather than challenging for podiums.
The AMR26 has suffered from a combination of poor reliability, excessive engine vibrations, a lack of straight-line speed, and an overall shortage of aerodynamic downforce.
Early in the season, the Honda power unit transmitted severe vibrations through the chassis, causing reliability concerns and making the car physically demanding to drive. Alonso even admitted the vibrations were affecting his hands, whilst the instability also prevented Honda from extracting the engine's full performance.
