A new billboard in Tehran’s Vali-e-Asr Square has continued Tehran’s diplomacy of threats. The new billboard asks in English, “Who is next?” and features the name of the recently deceased senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham in smaller font underneath.
The Vali-e-Asr Square billboards, the largest of their kind in Iran, are designed and produced by the Owj Arts and Media Organization. Owj is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and has, for years, promoted IRGC policies through the Vali-e-Asr Square billboards. The organization has repeatedly unveiled billboards opposing negotiations and aligning with the Islamic Republic’s regional, nuclear, and missile policies.
Previously, a billboard featuring an image of Donald Trump alongside the slogan “We will kill Trump” in both Persian and English was installed in Tehran’s Enghelab Square.
The unveiling of this new billboard comes despite previous warnings from Donald Trump, who stated that if the Islamic Republic attempts to assassinate him, the United States will deliver a “severe and devastating” response. In recent weeks, Islamic Republic officials and state-affiliated media outlets have repeatedly spoken of “revenge.” Regime officials had also framed Lindsey Graham’s death from natural causes as one of the regime’s “achievements.”
