CNA reported that Wang Jue, 43, was convicted of conspiring to make a false statement in an employment pass declaration form after a court found that an alleged investment arrangement offered to foreigners was a sham, with the employment pass being the only real benefit. — AFP pic By Malay Mail First Published: Thursday, 16 Jul 2026 5:17 PM MYT SINGAPORE, July 16 — A woman described by a judge as a key player in a scheme involving sham employment arrangements for foreigners seeking to secure Singapore immigration benefits was sentenced to 10 weeks’ jail on Tuesday.CNA reported that Wang Jue, 43, was convicted of conspiring to make a false statement in an employment pass declaration form after a court found that an alleged investment arrangement offered to foreigners was a sham, with the employment pass being the only real benefit.Wang, identified in court documents as a Singapore citizen, had contested the charge but was found guilty of helping two men, Zhang Qingqiao and Ang Sek Chai, submit a false declaration that Zhang would be employed by Ang’s company, MW Dynamics.The court heard that Zhang, a Chinese national hoping to obtain Singapore permanent residency, paid S$360,000 (RM1.1 million) as an “investment” under an arrangement that involved the company providing him with an employment pass.Zhang testified that Wang introduced herself as an immigration agent who could help him move to Singapore and provided him with an “immigration investment proposal” outlining steps to apply for permanent residency through investment.Under the agreement, Zhang was promised a fixed dividend of S$10,000 a month for 36 months and an employment pass from MW Dynamics.Although Zhang did not work for the company, he received monthly payments of S$10,000 from MW Dynamics for 13 months, which he said represented repayment of his investment principal and dividends.Wang had previously been mentioned in court documents relating to another case involving a Chinese national who allegedly paid S$1 million in an “investment” arrangement while seeking Singapore permanent residency.Her lawyer argued that Wang was only a middleman who helped high-net-worth clients obtain permanent residency and assisted entrepreneurs with setting up businesses in Singapore.However, District Judge Tan Jen Tse said the scheme was sophisticated as it involved finding a Singapore company to participate, creating false documents and continuing the deception for about 18 months.The judge disagreed with the prosecution’s characterisation of Wang as the mastermind but found that she played a key role in the scheme.For conspiring to make a false statement in an employment pass declaration form, Wang could have been jailed for up to two years and fined up to S$20,000.Wang is appealing against both her conviction and sentence.
