Information obtained by IranWire reveals that a Telegram channel publishing photos and personal details of young women and some young men in Lorestan Province, alongside sexually slanderous claims, received the photo of “Asma Jafari” through an “anonymous message” bot. Asma was a 20-year-old woman who, according to a lawyer representing the victims, took her own life just one day after her photo was shared.
An informed source told IranWire that the image published of Asma was “just an ordinary photo, not even a private one, taken directly from her Instagram page.” This account aligns with the only image of Asma currently circulating on social media.
According to another informed source in contact with several individuals whose photos were leaked on this channel and its backup networks, the victims are not solely young female university students. They also include high school girls and young men. Initially, the administrators harvested photos from the Telegram profiles of members in student groups affiliated with universities in Khorramabad and Borujerd. However, as the channel’s subscriber count surged, “some individuals began sending in photos of other people’s daughters and sons out of personal grudges and enmity, accompanied by highly offensive and immoral captions.”
