The Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement early Thursday, July 16, announcing that it had targeted parts of US military positions and systems in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan using missiles and drones. According to Iranian military officials, the strikes were carried out in retaliation for the US attack on the Bampur barracks in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

The Army’s statement noted that certain US military “sites and systems” on Kuwaiti and Bahraini soil were targeted with missile and drone strikes. Concurrently, the Kuwaiti Army announced that, as had been the case for the past several nights, it was intercepting Iranian drones early Thursday morning.

In Bahrain, air raid sirens were activated once again, and the Ministry of Interior urged citizens to remain calm and move to the nearest shelter or secure location.

The Iranian Army also claimed that it had used attack drones to target the Al-Azraq base in Jordan, destroying a radar site, a communications system, and fuel depots belonging to US forces. In the statement, the Al-Azraq base was described as a strategic hub housing US missile defence systems and regional command forces.

In response, Jordan’s official news agency, quoting the country’s military, announced that eight Iranian missiles had been intercepted over the previous few hours, though it did not release further details regarding impact locations or potential damage.
