One mum has admitted she's fuming as her child's school says she has to pay £15 if she wants her child's artwork. She also has been told she has to pay £2 a ticket to even view the artwork at an 'exhibition'11:20, 16 Jul 2026Many parents love seeing what their child has got up to at school, and many save a space of their kitchen fridge for the latest artwork that comes home. However, one mum has admitted she's fuming as her child's school says she has to pay £15 if she wants her child's artwork.‌Selina Jayne Weaver-Sidwell took to her @selina_jayne128 TikTok account to share the situation with her 2,000+ followers, calling it the 'latest scam' from her child's school. Addressing her followers as she spoke to the camera, Selina said: "Remember the artwork your kids used to do, the used to put it on the wall for parents evening and then shove it in a bag to give you to take home..."‌Selina then read aloud a letter from her child's school, saying: "We are inviting you to a special exhibition."‌The mum said it cost £2 a ticket to visit the 'special exhibition' and said she was told she can purchase her child's original artwork in a frame for £15 each.She added that the school there will be more than one piece of artwork displayed per child at this exhibition though, so those who would like additional framed artwork need to send in an additional £15.Selina added: "They know full well your children will want you to be there.‌"They know full well your children will ask, 'Do you think it's good mum? Are you going to buy my artwork?'"Selina also said she was paying school fees every term, adding: "But they're so broke they're having to sell my kid's artwork back to me."The post racked up more than 2,000 likes as people had their say on the matter.‌One person replied: "Do you realise it's to raise money that will benefit your own children? it's not like the teachers are pocketing it."However, Selina hit back: "I pay £9,000 a year for her to go there. The school isn’t short of cash that benefits my child."Another person argued: "That’s not a lot to cover all costs," however, again Selina argued back: "It is something different every week. I don’t mind paying the £2 and every other week sending in stuff for raffles and buying Christmas cards, £2 for own clothes days once a month, the fundraising events, buying cakes we can’t eat etc. It’s the £15 per piece that is a little far fetched.
