Israel allegedly plotted to install former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as Iran's new leader, overseen by former Mossad director David Barnea.
The reported plan involved striking Mr Ahmadinejad's home to free him from detention, with Mossad operatives later driving him to a safe house.
Former Mossad chief Barnea allegedly met Mr Ahmadinejad in Budapest in 2024, though the former president's office dismissed the reports as "Hollywood-style claims".
Israel also allegedly considered deploying thousands of Kurdish fighters to help overthrow Iran's government, alongside the plot to instal a new Iranian leader.
