If you're looking for a series to get you hooked, this option will likely keep you up all night long binging it - I know, as I couldn't stop watching it myself. The show actually aired on screens earlier this year but, if you missed it, it's well worth investing your time in. As well as being gripping, it boasts a stellar cast, and it's an offering that most TV lovers should love as there really is something for everyone in this BBC drama. It's not the first time people have been alerted to a great show on iPlayer either. Previously, another series available on the platform also received rave reviews. The show I'm talking about is The Other Bennet Sister, which is a British period drama series produced by Bad Wolf for BBC One. It was inspired by the novel of the same name by Janice Hadlow.Basically, the tale is a continuation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and stars Ella Bruccoleri in the lead role of Mary Bennet. It first aired back in March, but you can still view it on the streaming platform today. What is it about? If you're a fan of period dramas, you'll likely love this show, as it pushes viewers into the world of Pride and Prejudice, but focuses on what happened to Mary Bennet, the often overlooked sister in the story. To begin, you see how certain events unfold from her viewpoint, but then you follow her personal journey.Mary goes on to travel to London and the Lake District as she tries to discover more about herself and also makes new friends. Of course, romance may just be on the horizon too.Why is it so good?In my opinion, the show is brilliant as it offers viewers everything they could want. As well as being a gripping story, it's also gentle, heart-warming and totally devastating in parts. It's an emotional rollercoaster worth embarking on, and it also features a really good cast. Ruth Jones stars as Mrs Bennet and Richard E Grant also takes on the role of Mr Bennet.Ella Bruccoleri's take on Mary is also absolutely stunning, as you root for her character throughout the whole show. As the underdog, and a super kind and generous character, you're just constantly wishing for her to succeed as you want to watch her dreams come true. What have people said about it?While I absolutely adored the show, and was totally hooked, many viewers have also agreed the show makes gripping viewing. On Reddit, various fans expressed their total love for the drama. One said: "I absolutely love the show! I watched it twice within one week."Another added: "One of the things I loved most was that Mary never stopped being herself, like we see in rom-coms of a makeover/glow-ups. I also loved that two completely different men were drawn to her for exactly who she was. There's something rather satisfying about that."A third replied: "I binged it too! I love that the characters all look like real people. No one is overly made up or airbrushed."
